The President's Message

A Message From NW Priority Credit Union President & CEO Mark Turnham

[April 8, 2020 Update]

Dear NWPCU Members,

I hope this update finds you and your family safe and healthy.

NW Priority CU, like everyone, has had to make some tough decisions in the last few weeks. We are in unprecedented times that will demand more of us than we have ever experienced.

We have been serving our members for over 92 years. Through the Great Depression, World War II, stock market ups and downs and numerous recessions. We have served our members and helped them through tough times.

We are a credit union, that’s what we do. “People Helping People” has always been the Credit Union way. It has always been NW Priority’s way.

Your Credit Union is financially sound and well capitalized. Your accounts are insured with the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) up to $250,000.00 and we provide additional savings insurance in addition to the NCUA coverage.

While we have felt it necessary to close our branch lobbies to protect the health and safety of our members and our employees; we are dedicated to serving you and provide the assistance you need while we weather this storm.

We may have to get a little creative and do things a little differently than we are all used to, but we are still here for our members.

We are online with Home Banking, Mobile Banking and Mobile Deposit and our Beaverton, Vancouver, Milwaukie and Main branches have secure night drop boxes.

In the meantime, all of our employees are here, ready to assist you over the phone 503-760-5304 and at our Drive-up location at 12630 SE Division St in Portland, Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

If you are experiencing a reduction or loss of income, change in household expenses, or simply would like to skip payments on your loans with NW Priority Credit Union; we’re here to help make things a little easier and are always happy to discuss options that are available to you.

I want to thank you for your loyalty and membership at NW Priority Credit Union. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work together towards our future.

Remember, we are all in this together.

Mark Turnham, CEO/President

[March 19, 2020 Update]

Dear NW Priority Credit Union Members,

With new Coronavirus (COVID-19) developments happening every day, we have continued to monitor the situation closely. We are taking extra precautions to safeguard the safety and health of our members, employees and communities.

The Post Office Branch will be closed from Friday, March 20 and tentatively re-opening on Monday, March 30, 2020. The Air Base Branch will be closed until further notice.

Also, on another note, your deposits are safer at the Credit Union, than at home. It is nice to have a small amount of cash on hand. However, large sums of money in your home could be lost to fire, theft or flood. Your deposits are insured with the NCUA and we also have Excess Share Insurance. Your money is safe with us.

We are still here for you!

  • All of our fee-free ATMs will be available. We are also on the CO-OP Network, which has over 30,000 ATMs.
  • Our phones will be open to assist you with your financial needs.
  • Online Banking and our Mobile Apps are available. To enroll in Online Banking, go to our website and click the Enroll link below the “Log On” button. To download the NWPCU App, please go to the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Android).
  • Skip-a-Payment fees will be waived until further notice. Call our office and we will process the eligible loans.
  • If you need a loan from the credit union, please call us.
  • If you are experiencing financial hardship due to the Coronavirus, we can help.

The next few weeks or months may be hard, from the threat of sickness to economic hardship. We are here to help you. We appreciate your patience as we do our part to lessen the spread of this virus.

Thank you for your trust in us.

[March 16, 2020]

Dear Members,

I want you to know that NW Priority Credit Union's number one priority during these uncertain times remains the health and safety of our members and our staff. I also want to assure you that we will continue to put our members first as we take all appropriate measures to respond to this evolving situation. We'd like to let you know the following important information:

  • Office Safety. We will continue to clean counters, door handles, desks, phones, and other equipment in our offices multiple times throughout the day. We have removed all brochures, pens and children's play area's in our offices.  Like other organizations, we're taking guidance from the CDC, which recommends regular cleaning as one the most essential preventive measures.
  • Staff Safety. We have provided all our staff with hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies.  We remain committed to taking care of our staff and continue to keep them updated with the latest information to help keep themselves and their families safe. As always, we encourage sick employees to remain at home.
  • Member Focus.
    • At this time all the offices will remain open with regular hours.
    • If you are feeling financial hardship because of the current public health situation, we can help. Give us a call at 503-760-5304.
    • Skip-a-Payment fees will be waived until further notice.  You can now skip a payment on your eligible consumer loan(s) without paying a fee.
    • Enroll in Online Banking & Mobile Banking.  We encourage you to sign up for Online Banking and download our Mobile App from the App Store or Google Play.

Please know that we appreciate the trust you place in us. We understand that the current economic uncertainty is also affecting our members. I want to tell you that we will continue to be here for you, as we have been since 1928. Thank you for your continued membership with NW Priority Credit Union.
